Lemon Blueberry Loaf Cake
I had in my possession, for about 20 years the most amazing lemon bread recipe. It was from one of my mom’s old friends, Mrs. Bratnober. That woman could bake. Over the years, each time that I made this bread I fought all urges to eat the whole loaf myself without sharing any. However, I wasn’t raised by wolves, so I shared it with The Stud Muffin. My mother would be so proud. About a month ago I went to my recipe box to grab the card and make this so I could feature it during my week of “All things lemon“. I kid you not, I went through every single card in…

Balsamic Strawberries
One of my favorite things about summer is that berries are everywhere. Before I switched to Real Food, I suffered a raw fruit and raw veggie allergy. Almost all fruits and veggies, if consumed raw, gave me hives in my mouth, and tongue and down my throat. My throat would start to feel tight and I’d have to run for the Benadryl. Not an enjoyable way to live. I learned that most of my problem was from the pesticides because I can consume organic varieties of those fruits without problems…except watermelon. That one still remains a mystery. I love almost every berry out there. My favorite is a tie between strawberries and raspberries. …

Spectacular Blueberry Scones
I would love to live in England. I love the accents, the tea, and scones. Granted I wouldn’t enjoy living under monarchy rule, I would enjoy being so close to all the places I’ve ever wanted to visit. Maybe my desire to live in England is sorta like my desire to have a purple kitchen. The desire is one thing and the reality is something else entirely. Regardless, The Stud Muffin and I enjoy a good scone. There are plenty of nasty ones out there. There is nothing more painful than a bland, dry, crumbly scone. We’ve tried many different scones over the years and I think we’re sort of becoming scone aficionados. …

Real Food Strawberry Lemonade
Earlier in the week we had the heat on. I was even wearing long sleeves to bed. Over an 18-hour period we went from the low 40s to 99 degrees. Talk about insanity. That heat wave got me to thinking that it’s just about lemonade season and if it’s one thing you need to know about me, besides the fact that I believe that bacon is the answer to every question, it’s that I looove lemons. This means I love lemonade. I can’t get enough of the stuff. Each summer before I started learning about GMOs and Real Food I used to buy several containers of Minute Maid frozen concentrated lemonade. That stuff…

Carrot Pineapple Bread
I like quick breads. I’m sure since I’ve already posted a muffin recipe and a banana bread recipe that you already knew that. I like them because they’re easy, quick (hellooo Capt’n Obvious), tasty, they make a good snack, and they make a good (Christmas) gift. This bread has a lot of flavor and you’ll wish you’d heard of this years ago because you’re going to love it that much. This bread is simply magnificent. I thought with Christmas right around the corner you might be looking for something new/different to bake for a Christmas gift exchange, or for a Holiday gathering. I love receiving home-baked gifts, don’t you? This recipe is super…

Double Blueberry Muffins
I’m trying to steer TSM away from his normal breakfast of a cup of coffee and cereal bars claiming to have all sorts of nutritious grains, but they’re really just High Fructose Corn Syrup, preservative, artificial colors, flavors and GMO delivery systems. Thankfully, he likes scones, which we’ve made plenty of lately so I thought I’d try my hand at making homemade muffins. Turns out, these homemade muffins are easy and fabulous! Yes, I *do* have a from scratch recipe for muffins from culinary school, but it’s one of those overly heavy, super dense, almost gummy types of mammoth muffins, and that’s not happy food in my opinion. I like my muffins…
