Hearty Potato Soup with Bacon
I have a long list of personal quirks. I like to put an odd number of ice cubes in my drink unless it’s a small glass, then 2 ice cubes will do. I sometimes zig-zag the part in my hair, and will do either 5, 7 or 9 zigs and zags. I prefer to keep the volume on my car radio set to even numbers, and although I like a good homemade French fry, I don’t love potatoes. Don’t tell my Irish grandmother. It’ll break her heart. She’s already a bit bummed that she doesn’t have one full red-headed grandchild or great grandchild among all 18 of us. My less than enthusiastic attitude…

GMO-Free Living
Hello Real Food Hippies! I am excited to share a new Page with you. Each time I add a page, article or resource to the blog, I aim to share it with you as a post. This way you know of its arrival/existence and you can also search for it if for some reason you’re unable to view it via my Menu Bar. A lot of work went into this article. Halfway through my original draft WordPress decided to shut off the auto save feature, and I hadn’t had a chance to save my progress into a Word document before the whole thing went bizerk and I lost everything I’d typed. I will…

Spaghetti Squash- (A Recipe Request from a reader)
I thought today would be a good day to resurrect one of my earlier recipes. Spaghetti squash wasn’t something that was served at our house much until about 18 months ago at which time I had several friends on weight loss plans. I was trying to rework some of my recipes to make them healthier for friends. I’m not a big fan of squash. That may make me unpopular, but it is what it is. I’m being honest. What changed my mind about squash was the spaghetti squash. Wow! It was tasty and fun to eat. I played around with sauces and now I can truthfully say I enjoy squash. But just the…

Macadamia & White Chocolate Cookies
There are only 3 reasons that I can think of why White Chocolate exists. The first reason is to be baked into a cookie. Any cookie. It doesn’t really matter; white chocolate tastes good in cookies. The second reason is as a coating for pretzels. I love white chocolate covered pretzels and prior to going all Food Hippie and striving to eliminate processed foods from my diet, I used to eat pretzels covered in white chocolate. Great. Now I want pretzels.

Real & Easy Shrimp-n-Grits
We vacation at Folly Beach once every 2-4 years because it is very close to family and because Folly has 4 of the 5 things I require during a vacation. 1) The ocean and a sandy beach where I can set my beach chair and bronze my spectacular body in the sun. 2) A quaint little town with fun shops, good food, and friendly people.

Meat and Cheese Stromboli & Pizza Sauce
Today is all about Stromboli. Not the money-grubbing Gypsy puppeteer from Pinocchio, but the rolled turnover type “sandwich” that is stuffed with tasty pizza toppings. Whenever I’m not in the mood to get all “Paisano Pizzeria” and construct the perfect pizza, I throw together a Stromboli. This is Italian street food my friends. I’ll not only show you how to make Stromboli, but I’m sharing my pizza sauce recipe, too. A few weeks back I shared my Fail-Proof Organic Pizza Dough recipe. I’ve been using this recipe for a few years now because it’s one of the few doughs I’ve experimented with that not only makes a good crust for pizza, but it…

Classic Tapioca Pudding
Do you love tapioca pudding? I totally love it. I don’t like store bought because they’re very parsimonious with their tapioca pearls and in my opinion, those little gems are the best thing about the pudding. It’s like having a jell-o-y party in your mouth. It’s dozens of little baby Nemos dancing in your mouth. Crap- I just lost ya didn’t I? Shoot. I*knew* I shouldn’t have told you that the tapioca pearls remind me of Nemo (fishy) eggs.

Real Food Rules
We’re going to discuss my Real Food Rules today. (Insert cheers and clapping and confetti throwing here) I briefly mentioned these rules in yesterday’s post.
